Pure Formalism

Film still remains one of the newer media. In this program, we showcase some historic and contemporary (as well as local!) investigations of the moving image as an artistic media in and of itself. Scrap the narrative and conceptual mumbo jumbo, here we embrace the form to see how film uniquely contributes to the history of art. In the spirit of Stan Brakhage, we stand face to face with the image itself—and absorb.
